Our Mission

Our Heritage

Shield Space is an offshoot of the wider Shield UAS family, building on years of successful drone autonomy and edge AI development. Our co-founder’s background in cutting-edge unmanned aerial systems—spanning surveillance, force protection, and threat interdiction—provides the foundation for our move into space. By adapting proven drone algorithms and leveraging robust software frameworks from Shield UAS, we aim to accelerate the evolution of affordable, responsive orbital capabilities. This shared heritage lets us merge domain insight with technical know-how, ensuring that our approach to satellites is rooted in real operational expertise, not just theory.

Our Mission

We’re here to redefine space security by harnessing the lessons of modern drone warfare. Instead of enormous monolithic satellites, we envision agile, networked clusters of smaller spacecraft capable of manoeuvring, inspecting, and, if necessary, disrupting threats on a tactical timeline. Through focused R&D, targeted prototyping, and collaboration with trusted partners, we plan to deliver orbital defence solutions that are both flexible and cost-effective. Our ultimate aim is to empower decision-makers with real-time, autonomous oversight of critical orbits—turning space from a vulnerable frontier into a domain where sovereign control can be swiftly asserted.

Our Ethos

Tactically survivable, disruptive technology lies at the heart of everything we do. The threats our adversaries present evolve quickly and demand equally rapid responses. We meet these demands by championing scalable systems designed for contested environments, minimising reliance on fragile ground infrastructure. Our ethos promotes forward thinking and adaptable design, keeping us a step ahead of emerging challenges. Whether it’s AI-based object tracking or multi-satellite manoeuvring, we prioritise resilience, autonomy, and the ability to neutralise potential threats before they escalate. In short, we refuse to accept business-as-usual in space defence—and that bold outlook defines all that we are.
